7th October - Departure Day - UK
A nightmare of a day.
We’d left what, after a couple of drinks next door last night, seemed to be little more than a few chores, a couple of phone calls and a quick tidy round, to be dealt with today – our last day.
We were confident we’d be done in time for a relaxing lunch, a final check over the documents and a couple of final goodbye visits. In fact at the time we were supposed to be leaving for the airport we still had 20 or so bin bags to put out, a car load of things to deliver ... you get the picture.
We ended up making a mad dash to my father’s where we threw the bags into his car and he drove us to airport (thank god for online check in or we’d never have made it). After a very short but emotional goodbye to family we were on our way.
